Auditions for NCShakes Youth Theatre September 28, 30

HIGH POINT, N.C. – NCShakes will hold open auditions for two Youth Theatre productions on Saturday, September 28, from 3 to 6 p.m., and on Monday, September 30, from 4:30 to 6:30 p.m. Auditions will be held at NCShakes Spirit Center, 807 West Ward Avenue in High Point, and are open to ages 12-18. Auditions will take place for both productions on each day. No appointments needed.

Fall Youth Theatre will feature “The Tempest,” a one-act version of Shakespeare’s classic developed by NCShakes Outreach & Education director, Sherri Raeford; and “The Hamlet Thrill-mageddon,” a zany one-act spoof of Shakespeare and his work, by Don Zolidis and directed by NCShakes actor/director J. Hernandez.

Actors will read from the script sides at auditions. Available roles and script sides may be reviewed in advance at www.ncshakes.org. It is not necessary to prepare an audition monologue.

The rehearsal process for both productions will include four Master Classes in voice, swordplay, text and dance, taught by visiting professional theatre artists.

Rehearsals for both productions begin October 5, and performances are scheduled for Thursday, November 7, at 7:30 p.m., Friday, November 8, at 7:30 p.m., and Saturday, November 9, at 2 and 7:30 p.m. Rehearsals and performances will take place at Spirit Center.

NCShakes is sponsoring these productions following the successful introduction of its Youth Theatre program with Bram Stoker’s “Dracula” in July. For further information, call 336-841-2273 or email [email protected].
