NCShakes Presents Two Performances of JACK

Gripping Halloween Entertainment, Fundraiser to Reignite Professional Theatre

HIGH POINT, N.C. – The North Carolina Shakespeare Festival (NCShakes) will present two riveting performances of Michael Huie’s one-man show, “Jack,” on Friday, October 25. Presented in the spirit of Halloween, “Jack” provides an opportunity for those who care about great theatre to reignite the NCShakes theatre company.

“Jack” is a spine-tingling telling of the story of the serial killer known as Jack the Ripper, who haunted and tormented the East End of London through the fall of 1888. Winston-Salem based actor, director and playwright Michael Huie created and performs this completely enthralling one-man show, directed by Brook Davis, with scenic elements by Doug Brown and an original song by James Dodding. Michael Huie is well-known to North Carolina audiences as an educator and actor, performing the role of Ebenezer Scrooge in “A Christmas Carol” for NCShakes in recent years, as well as playing celebrated roles in Festival Stage of Winston-Salem productions, including “The Foreigner,” “The Exact Center of the Universe,” and “The Last Night of Ballyhoo.”

NCShakes, a nonprofit, professional theatre company based in High Point and serving the North Carolina public, students and teachers with theatre productions and education for 36 years, announced a limiting of operations in July and has since been planning a return to full service pending sufficient financial support from the community. The two October 25 performances of “Jack” and two performances of “A Christmas Carol Unplugged” scheduled for December 20 and 22 at the High Point Theatre are part of a current fundraising project to allow NCShakes to rebuild under a new model of operations, anticipated to be announced as The Phoenix Project. Further information is posted at www.ncshakes.org and available by calling 336-841-2273.

“Jack” will be performed at 7:00 pm and again at 9:30 pm on Friday, October 25, at NCShakes Spirit Center, 807 W. Ward Avenue in High Point. Admission to this fundraiser is offered on a Pay All That You Can basis, with a suggested minimum of $20 per person. Tickets may be ordered in advance by calling 336-841-2273, and may be available at the door beginning one hour before each performance. Seating is reserved and limited, and “Jack” is recommended for audiences age 14 and above.
